Terabit Optical Wireless-Fiber Communication With Kramer-Kronig Receiver—Part I
نویسندگان
چکیده
An optical communication link is proposed for high speed point-to-point data transmission. The incorporates both fiber and wireless technologies. Kramer-Kronig coherent detection used due to its component implementation simplicity. Spatial multiplexing, via a multi-core followed by link, wavelength division multiplexing allow the efficient exploitation of all available degrees freedom. signal-to-noise ratio estimated when possible noise sources are taken into account. impact loss amplifier placement on achievable SNR studied theoretically. Finally, it shown that over 1 Tb/s per with 4-core simple alignment system. important application this design would be backhaul intra-data center links.

Terabit-per-Second Fiber Optical Communication Becomes Practical
Humans used optical signals intuitively for the purpose of communication in ancient times. Modern day optical communication systems are instead based on the fundamental understanding of information theory and technological advances in optical devices and components. The Optical Society (OSA) played a vital role in making fiber-optic communication practical for the information age. It is well kn...
متن کاملIndoor Optical Wireless Communication Systems – Part I: Review
The emergence of portable computing devices such as laptops, palmtops and personal digital assistants (PDAs) has fuelled the demand for mobile connectivity and hence, led to the development of wireless local area networks (LANs). Wireless LANs offer users increased mobility and flexibility compared with traditional wired networks, and may be classified as either infrastructure wireless or ad ho...
متن کاملOptical Fiber for High-Power Optical Communication
We examined optical fibers suitable for avoiding such problems as the fiber fuse phenomenon and failures at bends with a high power input. We found that the threshold power for fiber fuse propagation in photonic crystal fiber (PCF) and hole-assisted fiber (HAF) can exceed 18 W, which is more than 10 times that in conventional single-mode fiber (SMF). We considered this high threshold power in P...
متن کاملDispersion in Optical Fiber Communication
Optical fiber is one of the most important communication media in communication system. Due to its versatile nature and negligible transmission loss it is used in high speed data transmission. Dispersion in a single mode fiber is the bottleneck of long haul optical communication systems, which limits the bit rate and repeater-less distance. Chromatic dispersion (CD) of a single mode fiber (SMF)...
